Confocal Microscope:Confocal microscopy is an optical imaging technique for increasing optical resolution and contrast of a micrograph by means of adding a spatial pinhole placed at the confocal plane of the lens to eliminate out-of-focus light. Optical sectioning feature allows the detection of fluorescence with in the cleared tissues. It also enables the reconstruction of three-dimensional structures from the obtained images. Microscope has been used to track subcellular localization of various proteins tagged with florescent proteins like GFP (Green Fluorescent Protein) and its spectral variants like YFP (Yellow Fluorescent Protein) and dsRFP(Red Fluorescent Protein) and to analyze the expression domain of various promoters. It has a vast array of applications in biological sciences.
